the best engine cleaner...
can anyone give me some advice as to what engine cleaner or treatment to use on my 99 dx? its got over 200k miles and i'm trying to hold on to it for as long as i can and i know it needs a tune up. i heard the seafoam brand and BG 44k is good, but does anyone have any professional opinions? thanks.
Cleaning the inside or the engine bay?
Engine bay - simple green
Engine - Seafoam
But be careful with so many miles, carbon may be all that's holding the seals together on your engine.

Good point.

iight, how about transmission? its an auto, leave it alone as well? i just had the lockup solenoids replaced because my CEL gave a code 0740 and replacing it did the job, over 2k miles ago... so leave it alone and just do a flush and fill?

I overlooked the part about the engine having very high mileage. I agree that it's probably not the best idea to attempt to clean/flush out the engine at this point. There would likely be little benefit, and there's a decent chance of exposing leaks or causing other problems. I'd just make sure it's completely up to date on any scheduled maintenance, and change the oil and filter at proper intervals using a quality motor oil.
