Default Reliability of a Honda in the 10s?

It's hard trying to search for a question like this and I really didn't find an answer...

But for those of you in the 10s with turbo cars, how reliable would you say your car is? Assuming the car is put together right and isn't a hack-job.

Key word here is TUNING! Properly built motor and adequate Air / Fuel Ratios.

There is a guy on here that ran 10's on pump gas daily driven

Well as far as tuning goes I'm not too far from the Whip Factory. I've heard great things about their tuning so they'd definitely get my business.

But I'm really considering picking up another crx and building it into a street/strip type of setup. Something that I can drive on weekends and go beat on at the track without it constantly breaking. I have that problem now with my current car(mustang, go figure). I'm not even worried about driveability like if it has an unsprung clutch or anything of that nature...

i had a 10.80 car i use to drive everyday for a year, nothing happened as long as you maintain it and check you vitals, you wont have a problem for a long time. i must of put at least 9k on that motor before i turned it into a trailer queen

That's always good to hear. my car right now is one of those cars where you can't drive without worrying. It's always on the verge of overheating, it may or may not foul plugs and start to break up and stumble on me...Sometimes it just randomly dies...But I think that maybe be the msd box overheating(it's on the inner fenderwell under the hood) and going into a thermal protection mode and killing the ignition. It's always quite the experience...But when it's running right it's a blast.

other than my axles breaking, it was pretty reliable. just tired.

as stated above, tuning and attention to detail is the key.

my car could have been daily driven and was a 10 second car on pump. i just decided there was no reason for a 10 second car on the street because you wont get traction until 4th. not worth the tickets to me. but it can be done for sure.

Its all in the tune and the build..If you have a great tune to your car and run good parts the motor should stay together all season and even see street time..If you throw the car together with cheap parts and poor machining, the motor isnt going to hold up..Power levels with vary the life expectancy as well..My motors usually stay together for a whole season then i break them down and put new bearings and rings in the motor..But everything and everyones different..

Freshening it up every season is no big deal. I was just thinking about having to put a clutch or trans in it every other week.

I touched the 10 and I drive my car all the time and you better believe I beat the snot out of it when im driving it to. You just have to stay on top of things like oil leaks ,check fluids ,and plugs.

dave is a good tuner so the motor should be ok. ill let you know how mine holds up. this summer its gonna get beat on one way or another. it only has 150 miles on it.

i had a sn95 and dont drive the civic like a mustang. ull end up with trans and axel destruction.

my car only makes upper 3xx whp and sucks for driving around because of the tilton thats in it.

but i got pretty good with the tilton after a day or 2.
