CarPC and my problems...HELP PLEASE!!
Ok so over the weekend I installed my carpc. Laptop under the drivers seat, amp under the passenger, ran new speaker wire, new speakers, mounted the bondoed touchscreen in the din, its awesome! But we are sitting there working on it, and have the car idling so we don't drain the battery. Well I turn off the car, get up and see that there is specks of coolant on the drivers side fender...not much but some drops. I don’t know, maybe I was too zoned into the carputer to think it threw all the way, so I passed it off.
Well I back out of my driverway (N down a hill)to go home and then put it into 1st gear and hear a loud whine coming from the engine, directly correlated with my rpm and gear shifting. I get maybe a 1/4 mile away and smell coolant burning, so I pull over, pop the hood, don't see anything. Ok...push forward. Well I drive not a half a mile ( no more whining noise ) and come to a light. Stop, and see what appears to be smoke rolling out the front from under the engine. Well, I thought it could have been dust because the highway is really dirty on that stretch. Well light turns green, I drive an 1/8th of a mile and the temp gauge goes up a notch. I pull over, pop the hood, and there is some smoke coming from the back right of the engine bay.
I smoke a cig, figured I'd let the engine cool down so I can attempt to make it the less then a mile trip home. After about 5 minutes, I get in the car, start it up (starts fine), turn on the lights (its mildy dark), put it into 1st and the lights turn off. Ok, wtf. Well I figured screw it, I will just follow my gf back to my house with no lights. So I did. On the way home I noticed the 3 places I stopped (1st pull over, 2 lights) there are puddles of fluid. Uh oh.
So I make it home (with no temp increase over normal) and pull into the garage. There is ALOT of coolant (no oil) in the back right of the engine bay. Now since I did my JDM swap last fall, I could kind of hear what I would call a dry faint metallic droning noise coming from the drivers side of the engine. I was a retard when we did the swap and didn't do a waterpump/tbelt/auto->man tensioner, because I was told from the seller they were done not 20k ago. I figured the metallic noise was the waterpump, and that I would replace it sometime this spring anyways.
Well with the loud whine I assume the waterpump just took a dump. And with the coolant being where it is, and the sudden loss of fluids, the wp makes the most sense to me. Does this sound right to everyone else?
If it is, is there any difference in OEM parts from a VTEC Model (usdm) to a JDM H22? Or a difference in years? My car is a '93 SI but I have no idea what year the engine is, just that it is a OBD1.. I figure I'll do waterpump/all the belts/auto to man tensioner while I am down there. Does anyone have a list of all the parts needed?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Chad

Yea, we tapped into a solid 12v and a switched 12v on the ignition for the PSU for the laptop and screen. And then also added the amp to the mix, so I probably need to upgrade my battery/alternator...
But as far as the water pump goes, do I just need the pump or are there all kinds of seals and gaskets etc? Does the Honda Service manual have a list of parts needed? Also, anything else I should do while in there? Oil pump? All the belts? etc?
Thanks for the reply...

Your oil pump should be fine.
When you do it, you should do the timing belt, balance belt and replace the tensioner. Now, a new autotensioner like the one that is on your h22 now is $90 new, a manual tensioner swap would be about $50 more max, I reccomend switching to a manual tensioner while you're down there.
The water pump is just the pump and the o-ring that goes around the outside as a gasket, very simple install there....

Cool. I didn't think the oil pump would need changed but I didn't know if its something you should do anyways while you are there...
I found this off of a sponsor on preludeonline...

$90 bucks for the whole conversion doesn't seem to bad.
Does everyone agree on OEM parts? At least the waterpump, but are there any aftermarket belts that are better?

Cool, figured people would recommend OEM, so this is the part list I have come up with so far...
14400-P13-014 TIMING BELT
13405-PT0-004 BALANCE BELT
19200-P13-003 WATER PUMP
12341-P13-000 VALVE COVER GASKET
12342-PT2-000 X 4 SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS (4)
91213-PR3-004 X 2 CAM SEALS
