Default mtf and rev-hang

I SEARCHED

if rev hang is what it sounds like, how do i know if i have it. When i shift, the rpms do stay high for a long time. i didnt see any thread that actualy explained what the prblem is. it seemed like everyone with it had an 06 but mine is an 07. By the sounds of it they fixed it in the 07s but im not sure. does it even effect 07s?

the mtf issue, what was the exact problem? i saw someone said 3rd gear issue, but that could be a few things. was it not going into 3rd, slip out, or not catch. im not a "mechanic" so i dont no if any of these have to do with the fluid.

If anyone could put it in lameman terms for a dumbass please help.
i had trouble with 3rd, but i think i figured out the problem, but im not sure.

Yea 3rd isnt really that bad if you time the clutch right with the shift its smooth but if you dont it wont catch right away unless you jam it and will grind from time to time i am more concerned with 2cd being notchy alot. I hate it during downshifts its notchy etc this is why i really want some new tranny fluid to hopefully put a end to it being notchy. I have some rev hang to but its minimal also with an after market intake you can hear it hang more i hear it alot but i am use to it by now so its nothing to go crazy over.

The only rev hang that pisses me off is when i am in stop n go traffic and while in 1st gear as it goes down in rpms it will hang and buck now that is really annoying .

FAQ thread is helpful.
DBW Rev hang info:https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1835215

3rd gear issue usually happens when its cold outside and you've just began to drive(in my experiences anyway). Basically when you go to shift into 3rd gear, even with the clutch pedal completley on the floor the transmission will not fully engage the gear --- feels like it would if you were to only press the clutch in a little way and try to shift anyway. Sometimes it will scrach(grind slightly) or kick the shifter out and you'll be in neutral(this has only happened to me a few times). Swapping out the fluid has proven to be a "fix" for most people.

Theres a ton of information on both of these subjects if you search a little harder.

My 07 Si has the Rev Hang problem. It is very annoying. I'm sure it is the Drive-By-Wire that's causing the problem.

Also my Si has a Cold Start Hesitation problem. The hesitation last until the engine has warmed up.

i thought it not going into 3rd was me. I rest my elbow on the arm rest and only move my wrist to put it in gear. it sounds like they change fluid for free so i'll have to go get that done and talk to a tech about the rev hang.

thanks

thamks for the FAQ i laways forget about those.
all the SIs with the problem were 06 and mines an 07, but it still seems to have the issues. i dont want to go to the dealer and have them check all that crap and tell me they cant do anything unless i pay for diagnosis.
will another mechanic have a HDS. a mom and pop shop?

the other issue is the tranny........did you pay for new fluid or did they just replace it. my car only has 350 miles on it. I hope its just me getting myself worried, but i'd rather be safe then sorry when my tranny goes with 100,005 miles on it.

I cannot imagine any place other than a dealership having an HDS Tablet with the corresponding(and updated) software.

I bought the fluid and changed it myself. Some people have been able to get their dealerships to do the work and cover the costs.

Another option is using aftermarket(AMS, Redline or GM's Syncromesh) instead of the OE fluid...

You didn't search very well, there are like 4,000 threads on "rev hang" and changing out the Honda MTF for Amsoil, Royal Purple etc... Try harder next time

i just dont like people who are always trying to start ****, especialy when that was his first post on this topic. Thats the biggest problem with H-T. if people would just help and post facts this would be alot easier to learn and fix your car, rather then wasting my time by reading bull **** like that

that may be true, but you just gotta get used to it. H-T is a big community, **** like that happens.

Not to use a cliche, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This forum (and many others) taught me to get as good at searching as I possibly could, do it as much as I can, and then ask questions. I've been on the board for almost 2 years now and only have 250 posts...

also, H-T isn't the only place to learn about doing stuff to your car. There's a wealth of knowledge out there... and google is your best friend
