Default gears feel difefrent??

The other day i shifted hard into 3rd and it felt like somethin popped when it went in. Now my 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears feel a little spongy meaning that it is really easy to put in, but my 2nd, 4th and reverse feel perfectly fine. and it drives perfectly fine, it just feels weird going into those upper three gears.

What could be the problem here?

shift fork?? linkages?

thanks any info would be great

It sounds like you might have bent the shift fork or your sycros just **** the bed. you could try switching out the fluid, but I really doubt that will do anything. You most likely will just have to pull the tranny and check it out.

yeah sounds like synchros to me too. If you do decide to change out your fluid you could try using synchromesh MTF. It might buy you some time at the very least.

Your shift cable is busted, you'll need to replace it/them.

Yes, I'm that sure.

But first check that all the metal clips that hold the linkage in place are still there. There are 2 by the transmission and 2 at the front of the shifter base plate.

It likely would be. Its not something that should have broken that quickly.
