Default Weird Shifting Problem

Alright, I have a myriad of bs goin on right now. First of all, in 1st and 2nd gear (so far only these two) SOMETIMES when I shift it kinds of *slides* to the right and it seems like its not in. Sometimes it actually catches, sometimes it will not. It definitely is not in correctly tho. When this has happened in 1st at a dead stop ill back it into 2nd and then try goin into 1st again just to get on the track. Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes 4-5 tries. The one time it happened in 2nd it caught but you could see by lookin at the lever is way off and the feel was terrible. The other time it happened I just revved it up and skipped 2nd altogether. ALSO. Sometimes, when its revved past 4k a sharp whirling metallic sound can be heard. It happens with the clutch in, clutch out, neutral, or in any gear. It doesnt not happen everytime but it happens enough. Not much of a tranny person so lookin for an idea of what may be wrong before I take it to have a shop look at it. Other than that I may pull the clutch to see if theres anything wrong with it. Its all stock. Car has about 72k on it. Its an 00 si. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

Throwout bearing is bad. Most oem replacement clutch kits come with a new throwout bearing. The only reason I bring it up is because you might as well do the whole thing if you gotta replace the bearing.

You may have a problem with the 1-2 shift fork inside the transmission. If you had a TOB problem, it would make noise when your push clutch in. 1st & 2nd use one shift fork, 3-4 use a different one, and 5-R use a third one. If there is a crack in the 1-2 fork or it is moving around on the shaft and not properly held in place, it can do some pretty wierd stuff. The forks inside that trans are not the toughest things and they sometimes get damged from getting jammed into gear.
