Default quick oil change question.

i have a 97 gsr motor with a moroso oil pan. i was told that i should only put 4.25 quarts of oil for a gsr motor. but i've put almost 4.5 and my dipstick still isnt reading anything. is it most likely because of the moroso oil pan? should i put more til the dipstick reads? thanks

I have a stock 98 EJ6 and when I change my oil it does the same thing. I just let it sit for about 2 mins, then it'll read.

It is most likely due to the aftermarket oil pan, which I believe has a higher oil capacity. Go by what the dipstick tells you, not just the fluid amount that you've poured in.

Agreed, I would check the specs on the pan and see how much it hold versus how much the stock one holds.

Good point, another reason to check specs on the pan.

yeah ive found a couple threads about people using 5 quart moroso oil pans and they are unsure if they should put 4.25 quarts or 5. there was a lot of mixed and unsure answers.
