Default Remote Starter Questions for 2000 Civic ex

I just bought a 2000 Civic ex and I want to install a remote starter to it. Its automatic and has the power locks. I'm looking to get a starter that is about $150-200. Will I need to buy a bypass module for my model or is there anything special im going to need to buy? Also, how hard is the installation? I've wired subs and headunits before and done other things on cars so I hoping I can do this too.

Also what are some good brands? I was looking at either Bulldog, Python, or Viper.

honda starting using chips in their keys in the civic model in 2001. so to answer your question, you will not need a bypass for your car.

imo dont go with bulldog. python and viper are good, but if you're only looking for a remote start look for valet or hornet. pyhton, viper, valet, hornet, rattler, clifford, and sidewinder are all made by the same compay, Directed Electronics (DEI). DEI makes excellent products that are very installer friendly. with a print out of your cars wiring you should be able to tackle this yourself.

Your budget is between $150-$200? just go to your local car audio place and have them do it for you. Most places charge less than $200 for the parts and installation on your car.

Circuit city or best buy. They will install it if it's over $100.

Pythin 700 is a good one. Any DEI product that's over $200 will keep your car pretty safe.

I strongly recommend a back-up battery and a hood pin though.

And make sure they wire the alarm to your trunk light in your dash. So when the badguy pops your trunk the alarm goes off.

I install these things for a living... if you've never done this or seen it done then let the shop do it.. I've seen 2 cars catch on fire because they didnt know how to change the starter engagement time.. BTW DEI products are the **** so easy to install and very reliable except every now and then it goes to valet mode for no reason

free install is only on cd players 100$ and up.
also were talking about remote starters here, alarms increase the price a good amount

Circuit City and Best Buy both offer nationwide service. however you can get a better deal going to a mom/pop shop.
