Default Good Remote Starter?

I'm looking at getting a remote starter for my 2001 Civic EX Coupe Manual Transmission.

The Viper 5204 looked to be a solid kit for a 2 way system. I've found them for under $150, who would I look for to install these and how much would it be?

Are there better kits for the price?

Stay with any DEI product, Viper, Clifford and Python are all DEI alarms. Whatever 2 way system you are getting make sure it has the SST remote technology (has the longest range available)

A typical stereo shop will charge $350-450 for a remote start alarm (just installation) Shop rates are usually $80-100 an hr and a remote start will take 4-6 hrs depending on car and installer knowledge.

When I do alarm installs on the side, I typically charge $150-200 depending on vehicle. Your Civic I would charge $150

$150 sounds about right, for an alarm with remote start. However, the car owner needs to supply all the components (alarm, extra modules, etc.)

Back when I was an installer installing on a stick was a no-no. There was one brand that worked with sticks. It required that you push an enable switch and pull the hand break before turning off the engine. It would run until the door was opened then closed. This ensured that the car was out of gear. I personally installed two standard remote starters on sticks. One VW and one Toyota. On both I installed reed switches with magnets on the shift linkages and connected to the hand break. Installed LED on dash that would glow when key off and in gear as a reminder. Both was for friends of the shop owner.

Is the Viper stick compatible???

Your best bet is to buy unit as installed package. Most shops will charge more for installation of carry in units then when you buy it from them. Some shops will not install alarms and remote starters that they did not sell.

Yes, the newer Viper models can be installed on manual transmission vehicles. Last month, I installed a Viper 5704 (newer version of the 5901) on a '98 Jeep Cherokee. Yes, the Jeep was an automatic BUT the default remote start mode for the alarm was for a manual transmission. You would think it's the other way around. Doesn't really make sense but whatever.
