Default 88 civic dx sputter/pop/miss after wash

Okay so i had somebody coming by to buy my first car a 1988 civic DX for 1000$ and yesterday my dad thought it would be a good idea to get out the hose and just spray the engine bay to clean it up (even though it didnt do anything) he said he didnt spray any part of the engine and only washed the outer bay so now. My civic pops sputters and is really rough oh and also seems like half the power that it use to have. I need to get rid of this car. it seems to run Alright when there is no gas but as soon as you even touch it, it just runs like **** and i know no one will buy a car that runs like crap. i need help asap. ran like a champ before

Did you get any water on or in your intake?

You probably have water in the spark plug holes. Take all four boots off the plugs and blow air into the holes....you will be suprised how much water gets in there!!! It may take a bit to dry out completely after that, but drive it and get the motor warm and you should be all set.

i had the same problem. i just let my car idle for an hour and a half and then it ran fine. but before i did that i took the intake off and dried it out. so my guess would be the intake.

just get a towel and twist it enough to fit in the pipe and pull it through.

gl on the fix
