Default Code 21

Im getting a code 21 on my b16a hatch. It has a p30-a02 ecu in it. I looked up the code and it says the problem is Vtec spool solenoid valve. Does that mean the vtec solenoid itself is bad or can it be something else with wiring, a plug, etc. ?

First of all what car do you have. ie. year model

I have a 1995 CX. i HAD the same problem. but i was reading up on ht and found out that my model doesnt come with vtec wiring. so i had to wire it from my engine harness to my ecu.

heres the link:https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=724252

hope it helps

It means it's not getting feedback(a grounded circuit) to the VTEC solenoid. Nine times out of 10 it means 1 or 2 things.
A) The VTEC Solenoid is bad
B) The wiring is bad - as yours is a swap I'd check the wiring first.

Yes, the VTEC Spool Solenoid = VTEC Solenoid.

If you want to check to see if it works:
Ground out the VTEC solenoid and touch a wire coming from the positive term of the plug to your battery, it'll click. If it doesn't click and you're sure it's grounded and your battery is good, you have a faulty VTEC solenoid.
