hello everyone i have a question my friend was telling me that b20 cams in a ls would give it more horsepower/torque beacause it has more lift than the b18b cams, is this true and if so is there any downfall to doing this?

 

Your name is far from the truth if you cant figure that one out. I would highly doubt it doing anything in performance. Just get a turbo kit.

i can not afford a turbo but would anyone else like to respond to my original question?

i just have to add, that just ANY b20b head wont be an upgrade, only the P8R head that comes from the high compression b20b is, these come off the JDM b20b engines with a knock sensor ONLY. ALL others are identical to the USDM pr4 or P75 head, besides the cams, which were intended to make more midrange torque, whereas the LS cams are intended for a higher peak torque (still not high, but higher than the CRV cams).

a better alternative would be to locate a USDM b20z, and swap the whole motor, not just the head.

 

well no if i swap a whole motor its going to be when i can afford a k, right now i have a ls as you know and i want to vtec it, but i was just asking about the b20 cams bcuz a friend offered them to me for 75 and said they have highe lift and will give the ls some more hp/tq thats why i was asking, i have a question tho im going to hijack my own thread haa, heres the sanario a stock gsr in a 92 hatch and a ls-vtec in the same body.. what one would win?

Read where it says Bench Racing....not tolerated. Read the rules.

If you want VTEC, you're certainly not going to get it from installing some cams.

 

anyhow, to answer your question, LS/vtec is supposed to be faster because you get the torque of the LS (longer stroke) and the revs of the vtec head, so theoretically its supposed to be faster, how much, depends on the driver, and situation, if at all.

also, PR4 head (b20b, b18b) complete go for about $100 max, so thats not a good deal for the cams even if they were an upgrade (which they arent).

what are you talking about man??? he never said he wanted to change cams to add vtec.

he was simply asking if infact B20b cams were an upgrade. then stated that he would rather save for a K swap than do a b20 swap, then asked which is faster a gsr or ls/vtec.

im not getting the problem here????
