Default WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT ACCORDS?

i have a 89 honda accord lx (automatic)(200,000miles). and the car was given to me as a gift. now, when the car was given, i was told that the tranny was slipping alittle. i have only had the car for about 2 weeks and it seems the tranny is slipping more. i picked up a repair manual and they really don't say much as how to repair it, all they recommend for these trannies is to have a repair shop over look it because they are too complicated.

well, i guess what i want to know is, should i pick up another tranny? how reliable are these trannies? and i was looking on a parts website and it shows 3 AT clutches to the car. are these the torque converters? are they in the tranny housing or bolted to the crank?

the car is in great shape other than this problem, it is my daily driver and i really don't want to start driving around my weekend warrior.

here is the site i saw about the clutches.

200000 miles is getting up there for an automatic. I would recommend you don't open up the transmission and try to fix it yourself, unless you feel confident. You should be able to pick up a used transmission from a junkyard for a few hundred bucks, try and get one off a car that has body damage and low miles, to ensure that they didn't junk it becuase of the tranny. Good luck.

Good luck finding mounts for a B-series swap.

Go with a used tranny from a junkyard.

Be thankful the carb still works ok.

I wouldnt reccomend pulling the trans apart, might be able to find a decent trans to swap from a junk yard pretty cheap.
