Default Help with HIDs

Got an 01 civic ex with projector headlamps. i go to get my new hid kit installed and the installer tells me they won't fit because the bulb housing is now h1 instead of the factory oem housing. and then he proceeds to tell me that the likeliness of an h1 hid kit fitting inside my projectors is slim to none... any insight, because i don't know if that's true or not

first, get a good kit. $400+

you might need to remove the whole headling, means removing teh bumper, to make room inside it for the new bulb

Depends on projector brand and HID kit, some do- some don't.

OEM headlights and aftermarket projectors use 2 DIFFERENT bulb types. that is why your HID kit doesnt work with your aftermarket housing.

If you install the original OEM headlights, they should work just fine (becuz these are the housings they are designed for).

One more thing: Most of the time, projector headlights are meant to be used with non-HID bulbs. This is because they will not shine properly and create big glares.

Glare = garbage.

no, you will have glare.

the ONLY way you wont have glare is if you have a projector that is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED for HID's.

In lamens terms, you can either run your stock headlight housings with HID kit, or do what is called a retrofit. You cant run your aftermarket projectors with HID.

A retrofit involves taking the HID assembly from another car that comes stock with HID (like a benz) and custom fitting the HID projector assembly into your OEM or aftermarket headlight assembly.

You will find a LOT of information if you use the red 'search' button at the top right corner of your page. Try google too.
