How to remove cruise control unit from 92 SI? Searched and no luck

As the topic states i wanna remove the factory cruise control circled in the photo above. The cable goes straight back into the firewall. It's already unbolted so i was wondering if i just cut the cable up to the firewall? or there's another way? anyone with experience?
Look under the dash at the gas peddle, you unhook the cable from there then on the firewall turn the black plastic grommet like a 1/2 turn and it pulls out. No need to cut it.
