H23A blue top?
there seems to be very little information about this engine. no one really use this engine or wat?? my stock engine is giving me a heachach so im researching for another heart. i came across this engine. my question is why no one use this engine? bigger displacement and vtec =
how about engine wise??? JDM H22a vs H23a blue top
does anyone know what is the rev limit for the blue top?? only spec i found is 220 hp, 163tq.....other than that i dont know much about it except that it came from an accord sports wagon

200ps @ 6600
162lb/ft @ 5200
10.0:1
designed as a "torquier" H series for the accord wagon
mostly with tiptronic transmission, some with 5 speed
both are fun and perform really well depends on the project u want to undertake
and unless you're a botantist or a florist
it's "pedal" to the metal

I am not sure that any came with a 5spd. Any H23A setup I have seen was using a different manual trans.
We had a guy in our club with an H23A EG Hatch and it made awesome power and torque. Because of the 2.3, it makes power a little earlier than an H22 but also drops off sooner.
You can throw together a better engine. IMHO.

This is what i have in mind. i have a t2w4 tranny so i dont care about what tranny the H23A comes with. I can get it cheaper than the H22a. so t2w4 with H23a in my bb6?? what do you guys think?
Trending Topics
H23a if you have a tranny sittin around. you can always rip it apart and put in h22a pistons. that will give you more power. or you can go the other way and do turbo. Thats why they have hybrid motors of the h23a. aka the usdm h23 block with the h22a head.
I think thats an awesome setup. Go for it!
Peak power is lower than the H22 by a few 100 RPMs.
Heres a dyno of my friends with intake-Greddy header-KTeller exhaust
Awesome torque curve! Almost hard to believe that it was from a 2.3 liter 4cyl. I still scratch my head when I loo at it.

I was impressed, but I have to guess that particular dyno reads kind of high. I don't think it would make that power on the dyno I use frequently. Its possible though.
No guesswork with the H23A. You don't have to worry about the old H22 head on H23 block issues.

hey since you have experience with this engine, do you know if i will have any issues when swaping? or it will be just a straight swap? thanks
Going to be just as straight forward as the H22 swap. Only Direct Issue I know he was having was finding a Distributor after his crapped out. I can't remember what he needed, but I believe the Regular H22A OBD1 dizzy didn't work.
He was running Hondata S200/P28 ECU
I think when I was searching for him, Distributor King had what he needed.

Correction, thats trans that is referrenced is from a Prelude S Spec(JDM) and has the same gear ratios as a 5th gen Prelude. Still very nice and not too long like the Accord F series trans!

How much horsepower do you guys think the H22A head and H23A block mated together would make, n do you think the setup is better than the standard H22A engines?

Just that little 4 letter word: VTEC!
I wouldn't just throw a stock H22 head on a stock H23 block though. There are too many horror stories from that.
Either way, you have an LSD with that trans....No biggie! I personally wouldn't want those EuroR ratios as I roadrace. It would mean touching 4th gear way too much! I wind 3rd gear to over 100mph now! JUN cams own the world!!

He seems to be talking about throwing a H22a head onto a H23a. The H23a already has vtec, so hence my question.

are there any suprises when putting this in an obd-1 civic as far as wiring goes? or is it more like putting any obd-2 motor in?
i've always wondered about these things too.
