It should be a small flat square (about 1.5") with the engine designation stamped into it. It is located towards the bottom of the engine, to the left of the exhaust manifold near the transmission housing. The stamp should start with either D16 or D15.
pop the hood, look down at the engine
On the left side, top, you will see the distributor, look down from there, looking where the block meets the tranny - you should see a flat plate about mid-deck on the block
That is your block stamp - it may be really dirty and will need cleaning in order to read.
If it says D15 its a 1.5 if it says D16 its a 1.6

The block stamp is located where the engine meets the transmission. It is angled so it stares you right in the face. If your car is a 92-95, it probably has a 1.6L d16z6 (1.6L single cam vtec) or a 1.5 D15B7 (1.5L single cam non vtec) Or if its a VX, it will have a D15something (1.5L single cam vtec-e). The D16Z6 takes a unique spark plug wire. Not sure if the D16Y8 (1.6 Single cam VTEC) from 96-00 takes a weird plug wire as well. 96-00 civics do not have the option for a 1.5L.
Look for the block stamp, and clean it off as it is probably dirty. Or what is the year/make/model of the car??
