Default blown block?

Ok as some of you might know, I had a post on here about my bro's teg's engine goin...here is a pic of the hole in the block I took, this is right behind the headers, I know you're not supposed to see that far into the block :/

There is also about a dime sized hole underneath the block which were not to sure if it's supposed to be there or not....Let me know what you guys think, can this have an affect on some other parts? Oil is leaking if you start the car up and it sprays around the engine a little...

Hey, your brother threw a rod. Don't bother trying to start it, oil will go everywhere(if there is any left), and you're probably just going to make the hole bigger. The block is toast.

Yeah we already figured that out...there about half a quart of oil on some street lol...anyway. You think it's just the block, cause we can get just the shortblock online for like 600-700 and have a shop do it for like 300-400....or just spend a few days on it and we can do it. But you think anything else could of been f***ed up? Cause I mean it still starts and whatnot...just not a pretty site

Well, pull the head and see. You've got a piston that's sitting at the top of your combustion chamber (probably). Your valves for taht cylinder probably hit the piston and may or may not have bent.

I had the same problem last year. Here's what I did.

I sold the head, and let the guy know that 4 valves may or may not need to be replaced. I bought a different head that had good valves for $50 more than the one I sold. I bought a B18C1 block w/ITR pistons.

All in I came out of the deal with a faster car.

It may start but that cylinder may make some funky noises and even make further damage. I wouldn't attempt starting it
