Default D17A1 engine swap

I have a 01 civic lx and the rods in the bottom of the motor are shot. I was thinking about changing to a v-tec as from what I hear it isn't hard at all. Just 3 wires off the ECU....what do you think or should I just stay stock and upgrade along the way?

well I would but see I don't plan on keeping this car so my time isn't worth it at this point....that's why I was asking if I should just stick with the stock motor for the LX and possibly put a turbo on instead of going with the vtec. An if I go with vtec what all needs changed over?

I see you only have three posts bud. Best thing to do is read all the FAQ's (frequently asked questions) and just scroll down the forum threads and read up on what seems relevant to you. All the questions you asked are easily asnswered over the next couple of pages

Or, use the SEARCH function (top right of screen) and type in key words.

what i meant was to swap for a d17a2, or whatever. if you're not planning on keeping this car for YEARS, why waste your money? you wont get ANY of it back.

if you're planning on selling it in 1-2yrs, keep your car stock, dont throw money away like that.
