s2k engine swap for rb26dett
Does anyone know if I could swap my s2k's vtec for a r34 skyline rb26dett? It's a 4 cyl 2.2liter 16v vtec with a 6 speed tranny wanna swap it out for the rb26. Also wanna know assuming it's possible if there would be much cutting/adapting that would need to be done to get it to fit correctly.

This swap is easy as hell. The RB26 is shorter and lighter than the F22C and it's a bolt-in swap when using HASport mounts. The RB26 even fits on the F22C gearbox without modification.

This would make a cool drag car. I would only do it to a salvaged titled s2k though. And yes, im sure there would be MASSIVE cutting involved.

Why bastardize the S2000 with that Nissan garbage though? Probobly be alot more fruitful, cheaper and more feasible to develop a twin turbo setup for the S2000 to make the power that could without breaking a sweat.

i work with nissans all day and i must say to you...WHY?!?!?!?!
the RB26 is not the bullet-proof motor that people think it is. there are problems with cooling systems and oiling systems depending on which version you get (r32, r33, r34). the crank is non-dual counterweighted form nissna so it isnt that great for high RPM. this is part of the reason it is such a respected thing to build an RB26 and have it last...they usually have problems.
the F20C is a much more advanced engine. build that and enjoy...
plus it is a VERY heavy engine with an iron block.

hmmm... the word interseting comes to mind but to much of a hassle ive been involved on a few swaps and this is one i would not want to wire, ahhh im getting carpal tunnel just thinking about it. i mean if you want to do something crazy i always thought the rx7 motor would be cool to drop in the 13b or if you want to drag do the cosmo motor (3 rotor turbo) or you could do the conversion and do the 4 rotor, haha it would be crazy. on the topic of swaps im puttting the new E46 M3 motor w/ SMG in an E30 3 series!!

Or any crate v8 chevy engine if you can make it fit. Kinda like http://www.alteredz.com, 240z's are nice cars to put v8's in, because of the long front, it should be feasible in an S2K.

It's not that I wouldn't mind doing it. I was curious of the problems before I tried it. After reading all the posts so far I've changed my mind lol. The wiring and cutting is what I really wasn't worried about until I read that it would need a lot of it. Thanks. Any ideas for what you all would do with my s2k?

I'd wait for the s2k aftermarket to get cheaper, and for now just take it to a track stock. It's not like the s2k is a boring car without mods
If it gets boring, see how far you can push the back end out on turns, then you can use your mod money for tires instead

i agree.
cool idea/project. i think it could be done but would be difficult as hell. also i think it will throw off the balance/handling of the car so its probably only going to be good for drag.

The RB is way too long. An SR20DET swap is theoretically feasable, but built F20s are making more power than built SRs, so in the long run, unless you just want to be different, it's a waste... there is someone with an extra salvage s2000 who is currently dropping in a V8... it will be interesting to see the results...
