integra ls long block, short block, what are the differences, pros, and cons? and how can u tell apa
like the title says, what are the main differences, and how do u know if you have a long or short block? i have an complete extra b18b1 motor, and was wondering which block it was. if anyone has any info and can help.... thanks!
It doesn't mean different versions of the engine, like what your question sounds like. Long & short blocks just refer to how much of the engine is included in the deal.
Short Block refers to the engine block with crankshaft & pistons but without the head.
Long Block includes the head. Sometimes it includes the intake and/or exhaust manifolds, so be careful what you agree to - be specific.

If it is a b18b, it is out of a 94-200 ls integra, as im sure youre aware of. As jimblake said, the term short block refers to basicly a block, complete with rotating assy, and poss the oil pan. a long block usually refers to and complete engine, that may or may not contain the intake and exhaust manifolds. if you have the complete engine, you have a longblock.
