Default Automatic turbo...

Going to drop in a d16y8 w/ turbo in a 2000 lx, without converting auto to manual. Is this a good idea? Does anyone know how the automatic transmission will hold up?

Yeah, now you are talking about shift kits and higher stalls... sounds like way too much work.

Should work out alright, as long as you have a small turbo that makes power early on.

Haha, oh it is dont get me wrong. I would rather spend the time/money to convert it then have to worry about a shift kit install and a higher stall. How high of a stall would you go with if you did kept the auto and turbo'd? Even having your stall at 2500 seems like it would suck for daily driving use.

It'll be fun for a few months and that's it. I ate my auto tranny up in less than 8 months with a JRSC running 7 lbs. Fun as hell until it broke on the NJ turnpike, shook my car, and stalled it. After that it would slip ALL the time, progressively getting worse too. Get rid of the auto fo' sho' for any FI.

What does that have to do with it? Excessive torque is going to kill the auto no matter when it comes.
