yo, just saying hey, new to the forum, my name is jonthan and this is my 97 civic hx. havent done much but a drop(dropzone coilovers), and a few other little odds and ends.
i really am not familiar with any of the terms u guys are using like "eg/ek" what are u guys talking about!?!? the models?

hey whats up.... welcome and what not...
eg = 92-95 civic (some are ej or eh tho but to keep it simple we cal em all eg)
ek = 96-00 civic

but just letting you know b4 you get flamed by some of the other guys you shouold really ask a technical question in all of your topics. but i guess you did with the eg ek thing. good luck on the build

 

cool so then i am drving an ek, i was wondering if u guys can tell me how i can find out which engine i have in this thing, theres a 1.4 and a 1.6 i think, and i am not sure which it is, i want to say it is a 1.6 but not sure.

if it is the SI
it will be a
B16A2 or b series motor 1.6 liter DOHC VTEC dual over head cam
or it will be
D16y7/y8
B series motor 1.6 liter SOHC single over head cam
BTW COVER UP YOUR LICENSE PLATE IN THE PIC
and it can either be vtec or non vtec

 

he said it was an hx so that gives him the d16y5 (1.6 liter sohc vtec-e)

and hes not driving an ek is he? i thought eks were only hatches and that hx only came coupes...? which would make this an ej8 right?

hx = ej7

 

i dont think any USDM 96-00 is actually an "EK" but you know most of H-T refers to these years as that name
