If you thought you were a know-it-all about civics and you don't know what those mean ....
then wow.
EG = common nomenclature for 92-95 civics
EK = common nomenclature for 96-00 civics
In reality, an EK is a chassis designation for civic hatchbacks and sedans sold outside north america. EG is alos a chassis designation for civic hatches and sedans sold outside north america, and some del sols sold in and outside of north america.

Re: (Eran)
Yeah I know, I just got back into Civics when I got my 97 last week, I used to have a 90 HB and a 93 si, I have been driving a Tacoma for the last 6 years so I'm a little out of date, but I will take my lumps like a man and I'm really glad to be back home in Civic land

This post was made over a decade ago but I gotta ask I know Eg and ek represent the different Chassis but what do the actual letters stand for?

Every modern Honda/Acura is identified by a 3-digit chassis/trim code. The code is found in the VIN number starting with the 4th digit from the left. Sometimes this reference is not completely accurate, for example, the "EG" refers to the JDM EG6 SiR-II hatch, whereas, here in the US all hatchbacks are "EH"s. The '99-00 Civic Si chassis code is EM1 even though the modern reference to '96-00 Civics is "EK".
