Default 3rd gear grind

I'm under the assumption that it is easier to just go with a new/replacement tranny than to fix a grind in my manual tranny. So just what will it take to fix the problem if I decide to keep my tranny instead of swapping?

if you dont know what your doing, I would stay out of a transmission. There are lots of parts inside, and most of the gears look similiar, and you wouldent want to install them in the wrong order. Also, you need a shop press to re-install some gears, which I highly doubt you have.

Bascially, it will be easier, and probably cheaper to just get a used trans.

Opening up a tranny with problems can be a can of worms....if one of your gears is messed up the other's probably aren't far behind, and transmission components are relatively expensive in comparison to picking up a used transmission.

If you do opt to try and fix it yourself, well, it's easier if you've seen it assembled correctly first. Take your time and mark your gears so they go on the right shafts, in the correct order and direction.
