Car dies ocassionally and won't start for 5 min
So my girlfriend's 99 DX got broken into and they stole the distributor and plug wires (ghetto). She had it replaced by the insurance co since there was broken glass involved and it went over her deductible.
Anyhow, about 2 months later, the car is cutting out randomly. It doesn't happen very often (once a day maybe), which makes it even harder to troubleshoot. When it cuts out, it will crank, but not fire up. Main relay is new. Plug wires and dizzy are new too. She's had the ignition switch replaced under the recall.
Runs like a champ when it runs. Looking for ideas here. What are the chances that we have a flaking dizzy already?

although the distributor is new, more than likely its the ditributor, im not too aware of how the honda distributors work, but most likely its the coil inside the dizzy, when i had my mx6, it did the same thing, i wuold be driving, and the car would "RANDOMLY" shut off, i would still have power to everything, still be cruizing, but the rpm would just drop instantly, it would crank but no spark, so if i waited about 5 minutes, or so it would start right away, i had went through 3 distributors in 1 month, than i did the hack to ad an external coil and it work perfect no problems ever since.... hope this helps man.
Plug wires are in the right order. My gf called her insurance and they want to have her take it to a different shop now to make sure the first shop replaced what the claims adjuster asked for (I don't have the list).
The dizzy is an aftermarket one, not a Honda. I know a few people that had horrible problems with aftermarket ones while I was running Honda Challenge. Plus it's the last part that was mucked with, so I suspect it may be the culprit.
Still open to ideas though.
