Default mushroom filter?

I have a password jdm carbon fiber intake, and i am going to have to replace the filter soon. password wants 40 bucks for a new replacement filter so im looking into my other options.

i really like the way the mushroom filters thats jdmshit and other companies make. how good are such filters (i think hks makes one too). i see them in a lot of the cars in magazines, but how are their performance. and what are the pros and cons of a filter like that?

$40 for a new filter really isn't that bad if it's a quality filter...

the filter on the end of the password jdm intake is a odd shape you can't just order a new filter from ebay. just use a K&N air filter recharge kit. 10 bucks at your local auto store.

Mushroom filters have been proven not to flow as well as the cone shaped filters, but the mushroom shape remains popular because it's JDM Yo. The cone shaped filters with a dimple on the end are the best flowing, but not many companies make them. AEMs new dry filter element is the best flowing and doesn't leave the oily residue all through your intake piping over time as do the traditional K&Ns.

I've never had one but for 40 bucks I would go with the one from them. you might want to recharge it like someone said also.

Yeah why do you need a new filter? You just wash iut with the K&N filter cleaning kit and its good. Speaking of which I need to do that on mine.
