Default Distributor ?'s

okay hears the deal i tried replacing my distributer cap and rotor under the cap today for the first time, but when i removed the distributer cap, the rotor under the cap, screw was stripped so i cant take it out, i need help???? anyone know how i can remove it without hurting the distributer??? thanks

Dremel a slot in the screw as deep as you can without going too far, soak it in WD-40 or PB Blaster, then get a slotted bit and put it in a small 5/16 socket (or whatever size your bit is), and carefully undo it with a ratchet or breaker bar.

Im sorry but im a noob can you explain this further, "dremel"?? "Slotted bit"???? thanks

Dremel (I assume you don't have one):



It's an electric rotary tool. You can cut a little slot in the screw with a cut-off wheel as shown in the pic.

Slotted bit:



Like the tip of a flathead screwdriver, but it's a little bit that you can put into a socket to get more torque on it.

I just did this - used lots of WD40 and hammered a screwdriver onto the screw to take it off.

REPLACE THE SCREW!
