TURBO KILLER> ?
did some searching. rod stroke ratios and bore, trying to figure out what would my best option would be for high speed turbo beatin machine. everyone in the neighborhood is getting faster most of which use some for of power adder. i just finished my beater so the car has time for a refresher.
i currently have b18c5, 12:1 compression w/ weisco pistons/eagle rods. portflow head toda springs/retainers/C's/cam gears stock TB/manifold. 440RC's built back in 03 by Mr. Sakai to the tune of 206whp 138tq. since then i have removed the cat and put on a hytech. also have the 3" aem with prototype stack on the end. when it was fresh the car ran 13.4 @ 106 on street tires(what i was told) i have reason to believe its true, even years later i'm still hanging around cars about the same speed. my friend who owned the car before me told me that he sent the car to steve to be able to rev to 10K. now i understand revs that high arent necessary and im all cammed out around 8900, but this was a while ago and things were different thats all they cared about around here haha. but the more research i did on the current setup the more i realize that there was alot of thought put into this build on steves end. i believe that the ability to climb up to the higher RPM's is what got the car into the ET's i listed. so thats just the rundown on what im working with. its also mated to a usdm R tranny and the car weighs in at around 2500 lbs.
my goal is to build one of the quicker NA 4 cylinders in the city; which i already have a good start on, but most of the cars around here are sub 13 seconds and boosted. im looking for direction as far as what kind of motor build will give me some longetiviy, but get me into "fast" territory. is it a bigger bore with more torque and power in the lower RPM or am i looking for more power in the upper RPM? i know i really cant get much further than 220 whp and between 135-145tq with the 1.8, but is it necessary to go past that? i dont know, its late, i just want to shut thess mom and dad funded kids up. someone help haha. also intreasted in HPDE/autocross, i understand thats a whole different ball game as far as "where the power should be" but if someone could enlighten me as to how to reach a happy medium that'd be goodtoo
i want your knowledge.
