Default Can not make up my mind.......

Ok i cant beleive im asking h-t this because i should know, but i just keep going back and forth between sleeving and not sleeving my motor.

Im building my gsr to run 400-450whp(turbo limited). i know sleeves are not needed but would def be nice to have. incase i want to up the boost later on. well here is my mentality on the matter.

my reasons for not sleeving current setup:

1. later on i want to have a track only car which will of course be sleeved and will be pushing 600-700whp eventualy.

2. if i do sleeve. i know im going to want a bigger turbo, better clutch, bigger intercooler, valvetrain, better turbo manifold, bigger wg, etc etc

reasons for sleeving:

to ensure reliability
can go 2.0L w/o problems
get it over with
have a nice clean set up

its my nature to want good quality parts. and i think if i sleeve this motor i will want the rest of the set up to be as good.

my current set up:

94 stock gsr
Garrett T3/T4E 57trim, .63ar
24x6.5x3 core if i remember correctly FMIC
tial 50mm bov
tial 38mm wg
peakboost ver 1 ramhorn manifold
3 inch dp
hondata s100

this should get me my goal.

what do you guys think? thanks for any input.

If you're going to have a track only car, there's no reason to sink the money into sleeving a more DD oriented car.

is you want to reach 400-450whp on stock sleeves you need to boost high and could be posible, but all the effort, time and money would depend on the thin oem sleeves...

if you want to reach 400-450whp you deff got the insure the reliability of hte parts to use. just my .02.
sleeve it...camp has it for 800 GE sleeves

if that's a street car, how often (how much of the time you spend driving) are you actually going to be putting ~400hp to the wheels, or this much of a load on the engine... do you always get on it? hardly ever?

it sounds like you got a pretty good idea of your goals / pros / cons. the decision's up to you. ask evans-tuning how many stock sleeved gsrs he's tuned and how well they last on average... then again your particular engine might have been blessed with some weak sleeves. then again that's another paycheck or two potentially down the toilet. i feel your pain haha. good luck
