Default My first real turbo build....

I made this thread to get input on my set up as well as to keep track of my motor build.

Here will be my setup

94 GSR
gsr tranny w/OBX lsd
cp 81.5 mm 9:1 pistons
eagle h-beam rods
stock sleeves
oem bearings
arp rod bolts
arp headstuds
full supertech valve train
stock cams/gears
6 puck clutch
rc750cc inj
J-G fab topmount BLING BLING
T3/T4E 57trim .63ar
tial 44mm WG
3 in DP w/full 3 inch back exhaust
p28 w/s200
big fmic
2.5 IC piping
tial 50mm bov

My current setup:

stock gsr motor
topmount (just ordered)
ramhorn peakboost manifold
T3/T4E 57trim .63ar
38mm tial WG
3 inch DP and full 3inch exh
24x6.5x3 FMIC and piping
tial 50mm bov
p28 w/s100

This setup has never been tuned. Actually never even boosted. Turbo was put on. License suspended, then decided to build.

Now im going for about 400 whp with the new setup. i know i can make 400 with the parts i currenty have but i want a nice clean set up that will easily make the power and when im ready to sleeve the motor i dont have to go and buy them parts.

I have a lot to learn still and like i said this is my first real "serious" build. Thats one reason why i think maybe i should stick with the parts i have now and after seeing what they are capable of, upgrade as needed. My long term goal is to push 550-600 sleeved.

any advice on the setup? i need some advice on fuel delivery. Until then search owns me...

TIA

Haha wow I just got my liscense back two weeks ago. I feel your pain lol.

Sounds exactly like my setup, only difference is manifolds. Im using a victor x intake and log exhaust.

Im using a walbro 255 intank pump and thats it, I only plan to go up to 400hp though. If you plan for 600 you may want to look into an aeromotive inline pump, filter, and fpr with earls fuel line kit.

You will also need larger injectors for 550-600hp. 750s are fine for ~450. I'm using 780cc's you may want to get 1000cc's when you sleeve your block.

around 400hp you are getting to the outer limits of the 57trims efficiency. If you plan to push more out of this build you may want to get a 60-1 or gt30r or 35r. TheShodan has a badass 60-1, I would PM him.

Your goal of 400whp on that setup is doable, but idk if you can push that kind of power out of a 57trim on pump gas. Also, there is no concievable way in hell you're going to make 600whp on that turbo...and i'm sure you know that, but i wanted to make sure.

Bigger injectors and a stronger clutch are a must if you're planning for 600hp as well...they will both work fine for your current goal though

Good eye, yes you may want to get a stage 5 clutch, I wouldnt recommend a twin disc on the street though.

You'll be able to push 400hp out of that 57trim but it will take more psi than say a 60-1 or equivalent, and yes this turbo will not be able to push 550-600 lol. You may want a GT35R(biggest bandwagon turbo.. ehhh) or equivalent for that goal.

thanks guys for the input.

ya this turbo would def not suffice for my 600who goal. or the clutch.

ok so 255lph walbro and B&M fpr with 750cc inj theres my fuel

Is there any advice from you guys that have built before? Like did you wish you would have sleeved the motor, took your time and got it all done at once? I dont want to finish the motor, tune the car, run it, then want more and have to rebuild again. what do you think. I wont have my license back until july so i have some extra time. thanks guys

also what about the fmic do you think it would be good for 400? i have been reading up and the ebay intercoolers sound like a good alternative.

255HP, FPR and 750CC will suffice for 400hp, 600 of course needs more.

If you are eventually going to sleeve the block theres no reason to not do it now. If you sleeve it you may want something different than a 81.5mm bore. Maybe you want an 84mm, thats all up to you. Athough boring it out that far wouldnt leave you much space for error (a new hone). If you dont sleeve it now and do it later and decide to bore it out more you are going to have to change your pistons. You might as well buy those pistons now and sleeve it.

As far as the FMIC. As long as its large enough to flow the HP you want I think it should be fine. I currently have a spearco w.a.v.e. 22'' 8'' 3.5'' i think. Its rather large but I think its only rated at 500hp.
