if you have a bent valve, then it would probably be a matter of time before it breaks and if that happens, you are extra fucked. pop the valve cover off and check it out. its not that hard and you will have peace of mind. if you dont want to adjust them, you can still check at least.

heres the link to the DIY in the FAQ thread

i think its pretty straight forward. i know what im doing, so i can do mine in about 20 minutes, but it shouldnt take you more than an hour maybe two. just be patient and if you end up adjusting the valve lash just make sure you are triple checking the clearance before you close it all up again.

eh its better than the 2 hour labour some shops will try to charge ya. i was just offering a semi inexpensive way to get it done. It is easy though, i've done it and takes me less than 30 minutes after car is jacked and front driver side tire is off. I almost cried the first time i did it. it runs soo smooth after. oops... i wet myself

i guess you could take the intake manifold and header off and look into the ports

or get a leakdown test done

leakdown would prolly be the best bet, however I've seen a valve bend and the motor would still run fine only to have it break off a few days later. If ever again I even think I bent a valve they are all comin out and goin in the trash. I know from my own expierince how much damage can happen when a valve head pops off
