Default problems with shift linkage...

i have installed my shift linkage the wrong way and i was wondering how you can take out the pin from the linkage to the tranny.. you know the small pin which connects the shift linkage and the transmission bar.. for gear shifting. i have hammered it with screw driver and hammer and it wont come out also heated and still nothing.. any speacial tool to takin this pin out of there.. so i can turn my shift linkage the other way.. because it does match my shifter the way i installed it..

A lot of guys call it a 'bitch pin' because it's a pain in the *** to get in or take out. There are tools out there, but I don't see what the big deal is. Just find a bolt, screw, what have you, that is the same size diameter (not too big, not too small), mate it up to the hole, and wack on it for a while with a hammer. It will come out eventually.
I used to use my buddy's expensive tool he bought for it (I think that's all he uses it for), but just over the weekend, I was helping a buddy install his sway bar on his EG and we needed that bitch *pin* out. So I just found a bolt that worked...worked so well that I have nominated it my new bitch pin remover.

Just stay with it...you'll get it. No heat necessary.

If you want to get fancy, go to the store and buy a punch set. It should be an 8mm punch that fits the whole. I just use a bolt. I've found that the long ones that hold the A/C compressor to the block work very well. Also, the long one on the rear tranny support bracket (bracket that connects at the base of the block to the base of the tranny) seems to work well too.

decide to take out the transmission instead. so we can turn it over and get a really really good hit on that bitch pin.. still did not want to come out hammered my arms a bit ****.. .. i use a phillips screw driver sometimes it works, sometimes they brake. well i was hammering it down with the transmission of and still it would not come out. so my brother decided to drill it out. we did about 1/4 of the pin down. then punched it again with hammer and screw driver and finally got that bitch out of there. **** was it a bitch. thanks for your quick reply's.. honda-tech
