Default Replacing rod and main bearings, (what else should I replace?)

As the title states I am replacing the main and rod bearings in my d16z6 and want to know if I should replace anything else why I am in there. I have already done the front and rear main seals, and oil pan gasket. And also should I plastigauge the crank. I could also use any tips and or hints to replace this.

I replace that stuff when the motor was out. It is installed now. I am going to have to pull the engine this weekend and fix it. I feel so stupid for not doing it when I had it apart.

If you know a machinist I'd get him to balance and micro polish the crank before you put it all together again. I've heard that Hondas are balanced so great from the factory that it really isn't necessary, but the added precision balance would only make everything better.

If you're willing to go the extra mile, you might want to take your head apart and get some new valve guides and seals put in. Since this is a D16Z6 head I'm going to assume it's got some hefty mileage on it or maybe you've been ******* it. Valve guides and seals don't last forever. Might as well get it done while you've got everything apart.

I def. agree on all of that, but im not gonna remove the head. I am just gonna pull the motor and tear into the bottom end. Thanks for the advice tho.

you could get new rings,

or have it honed and go .25mm oversized

I just bought all new bearing/rings/pistons/oil pump/ seals, timing belt/ head gasket/ intake gasket etc.

I spent over $800 in parts

so it can add up very quick, but when all is said and done you will have a brand new motor to run another 200k miles
