Default New Setup Ordered. Forgetting Anything? Comments? Couple Questions.

Well, I got tired of all motor real quick after i took a drive in a DD boosted 12 sec hatch. Scrapped the cams and bought my kit and then some. LEt me list what I picked up and you guys tell me what you think and If I am missing anything. Experience with any of the stuff I bought would be good too.

I bought a modified rev-hard kit from turbokits.com

Cast Iron A/c friends Manifold
T3/tO4 Turbo
Spearco Intercooler
Greddy BOV
Vortech FMU
Some High Volume Fuel Pump
Billet Map Diffuser
2.5 Inch Downpipe

Fuel and Engine MGMT
Hondata s200 with boost option
440cc injectors with HKs Clips
AEM Boost Controller and Gauge 2/1 (Anyone Used or have exp. with these?)

To make it a little more plug and play I picked the H-T special on moroso oil pans with the turbo taps pre drilled.

2.5 inch test pipe
with 2.5 invidia exhaust so it should be 2.5 all the way back.

My current setup is as follow.

B16 stock internals
upgraded skunk2 valvetrain
mugen thin headgasket
spoon sports wires

My goal is not to be the fastest outthere but to have a usable powerband for fun weekend driving , auto-x, and fake-*** backroads touge my friends and i do down here.

My questions are....

1. do I need the FMU and fuel pump if I am running the hondata with big injectors?
2. also, right now I have installed skunk2 stage 2 cams. My guess is I need to sell these to boost. which is the plan when the kit comes in this week but is there anyway to use these with a good tuner or would the power band just be totally jacked.
3. as far as gauges go do i _NEED_ anymore or will the boost gauge be good enough. I am not a big fan ofgauges, kind of anti rice. I did see a glove box gauge holder thing that might not be too bad if I need more.
4. which leads me to, I was planning to put the gauge on my steering column but what are some other setups people have done? I don't want a pillar and I dont want that holder by the gauge bezel.
5. is stock ignition setup good? All I have there is spoon wires.
Am I forgetting anything?

Anyone have an idea on the kind of power at a mild reliable boost I should be able to run with the setup?

I think that is all for now, thank ALOT in advance and all words are welcome.

Setup is in a 1997 EK.

Thanks
Greg

I advise you to get a walbro 255 or something similar. Your stock pump whether you have bigger injectors or not just ont cut it. With your setup I think you should be capable of mid to high 2's without a doubt.

1. no on the fmu...yes on the bigger fuel pump

2. not exact on s2s2 cams but i know the stg1's are basically itrs and everyone loves those and boost...so possibly w/ a good tuner and some cam gear to dial out the overlap...they might make some extra power...but you could sell them and pick up some gsrs and recoupe some $ and just turn up the boost

3.gauges are nice...but ive never ran them...i used a boost gauge & wbo2 to tune my car...once i had it all set up...i programed my avcr and tuned for max boost...and once i had that dialed in...no gauges...altho i would tend to run crome and view everything and datalog runs so basically gauges of everything.

my ultimate setup would be a lcd touch screen dash w/ tuning software...so you could view all you gauges on your nice lcd screen...fnf ftw!

4. some use fiberglass and make a new steering column cover w/ an integrated gauge pod...its not mostly where you want the gauge...its can you get a line to there so the gauge sees a boost source

5. stock ignition is plenty past 400whp+...many swear by it...but def uprgarded plugs are needed...and a new set of wires, rotor, and cap never hurt

powerwise...like mahy your probably run 7-10psi...and be in the 240's - 280's depending on the tune, conditions etc....

no joke on the drums. thats the next thing to go. thanks for the ups on the car.

Drumking, thanks big time for the info. I will sell the FMU f I can. the kit comes with the bigger fuel pump. I guess I will use that.

I still have my stock b16 cams... how are those for boost? I could put those in and sell the s2s2's to recoupe the the turbo a lil bit. already sold all the rest of the all motor junk.

thanks again,

any more feedback?

b16's are know to be the weaksauce of the bunch...but they will get the job done...one thing i forgot to mention is you should prb go bigger on the injectors...maybe 550-680's to leave some room for growth

Yeah, I'd up the injectors a little, if you can. Definate make sure you've got a good walbro 255lph pump. get rid of the FMU.

As for the cams. I've seen boosted setups run the S2s2 cams, but on higher power level setups. If you decide to get ride of the S2s2. I've got a set of GSR cams I'd sell ya for real cheap. other wise everything else seems pretty good. Car looks real nice.. good luck with your setup. PM me if you'd like the cams.

Get rid of the FMU up the injectors to 550cc if you can get a fuel pump prolly a welbro 255lph pump. Unless you have the aem boost controller I know that the Greddy profec Type-S is pretty good and I havent heard any probs with it from my friend who has it.

on gauges, i would get a boost, oil pressure, and a wideband A/R. that will give you a lot pertinent information as to what is going on. nice ride!

SEXY STUFF!!

ok im pretty psyched.

Couple questions.

Precision Engineering 440cc injectors. They def dont use the same clips I have now. Will obd1 injector clips work?

Also the downpipe doesnt have a flnge on it. If I get a flange welded on.... will it be in abou tthe same place as the stock header? So I can mount up my exhaust?

Thats it for now, I think.
