I just built my LS VTEC. It is running and running great, except for one thing. It burns the odd bit of blue smoke? Is this normal for break in? I am running no cat if that makes a difference or not. Its not all the time, just here and there. Please, please help. There is only 160 kms on the motor.

 

blue smoke = oil.

 

yep, you say you built it right? did you change anything like pistons rings and such if you did make sure you did NOT use synthetic to break it in.

 

I know blue smoke equals oil!! I have built a few motors and have never had this problem. I have an SIR head that has received CTR cams, ITR valvesprings, ITR intake manifold with a minor p&p and three angle valve job. The block is a 93 Integra B18A with PR3 pistons. All new bearings, piston rings, water and oil pump, etc. Everything has been replaced.

I have been told a little bit of burning oil is normal on first initial break in. Is it?? I have no cat so it wont hide any smoke. The motor only has 260 kms on it now and seems to be getting better. Please any advice would be appreciated. I will keep you updated!!
