just swapped jdm h22a - got cel 22, help!
Ok i'm having a problem here, i just recently swapped a h22a jdm 97 on my 93 prelude vtec car using same ecu (p13). I notice my engine gets really hot but the temperture is showing normal which is half. In the morning it would run vtec and will redline. after driving for awhile which i know the engine is really hot, vtec wont engine and it'll stop @ 6500 rpm. No check light is showing but when i pin for cel code, it's throwing cel 22. My fan doesnt turn on when its really hot. i can even feel the heat wave just standing next to it. help. any advice is appreicarted. thanks
i forgot to mention, my oil pan has some terrible dents, due to dumb seller didnt provide me a pallet to put on the truck. cna this be the problem? oil pump not catching it perfectly?

my oil pan was dented also. it kept my vtec from working. mine was blocking the oil pick up. but it only hit vtec when it was cold. i guess cause the oil was thicker. but when it got warm no vtec. so changa that oil pan and go from there.
but my engine gets really hot. it usaully when hot, vtec wont kick and cut off at 6500rpm. is it the thermo switch? my fan is not turnin on th=e right time.

check and see if the fan works 1st. just unplu it, take the plug that runs to the fan, and the pins that r in the plug. with a wire touch 1 to the neg side of the battery. and 1 side to the pos side of the battery. if it dont kick on its bad. jus go from there. if the fans does work next check the fan relay.
I'm pretty sure ur getting the code 22 oil pressure code because u swapped an obd2 h22 in ur car and still using an obd1 ecu.... The problem lies in that obd2 vtec engines don't have an oil pressure switch for vtec, just the vtec solenoid, so ur ecu isn't seeing the sensor connected since u have an obd2 engine and thus giving u problems with vtec. It could also be ur oil pan, the oil pickup line is very close to the bottom of the pan, so u might have dented the pickup line. I would take the oil pan off and check it out.
bingo, i had the exact same thing, except i converted my obd2 H22a4 into OBD1
fixed it by disabling the VTEC Pressure check through crome.

does that mean i need to use an obd2 ecu to run it right. i had to swap my old vtec solenoid becuz the jdm doesnt have the right connector.
