5 lug swap axle question
I searched 5 lug conversion and I found plenty of results, so I know how to do the conversion and I am going to do it because I have a wrecked 5th Gen sitting in my backyard, just incase anyone asks me why I am gonna waste my money.
My question is that on one of the threads I read that the conversion makes the wheels sit about 1/2" closer in, and I was wondering if the axles are any different on the 4th gen vs. 5th Gen like if the 5th axles are longer, because although a 1/2" is not alot, I would rather my wheels sit flush with the body of the car.
Is there any way I can accomplish that, such as buying wheel spacers etc? Or If I use the 5th Gen axles will the wheels sit farther out? I know its a noob question but I searched everything for this swap and didnt find about anything on this.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Getting 5/4th gen axles will not bring the wheel closer or further away from the car. The only way to bring the wheel further away from the car is using wheel spacers. When I did the conversion I hardly noticed it being that much closer, I wouldn't even worry about it.
You can use either the 4th gen axle or the 5th gen axle. If using the 4th gen axles you will need to get a grade 8 washer inbetween the hub and axle nut to act as a spacer, as you will probably bottom out before reaching the correct torque. I used 5th gen axles and a washer anyway.

and where would I buy wheel spacers, I heard they cause vibration in the steering wheel, like are the bad for it in any way? And what size would i get to compensate for the 1/2"? Im assuming a 1/2" spacer but does anybody know for sure what the gap is?
I think you can pick up spacers at discount tire, I am not sure though. I suggest just doing the 5lug swap first, then decide for yourself if you can notice any change in the wheel stance before buying anything.
