Default 5w30?

Im a noob...
and I just bought some 5w30 Royal purple. My car has 175,000 on the chassis and only god knows how many miles on the motor. Its an h22a1 with i/h/e and some other boltons. I live in York Pa and it's beginning to get warm again. I havn't opened any bottles yet and I have the reciept so should I get 10w30? I think helms says 10w30 but any personal prefrences?

Honestly, switching from a conventional oil to full synthetic with that many miles doesn't sound like the best idea, at least as far as oil leaks. I went from conventional to synthetic blend, and I'm pissing out a lot more oil than before. And, honestly, the added protection isn't that great, as far as DD goes
