EGR VALVE??can it cause harsh idling
my bros car idles alot and a while back it through out a code for the EGR VALVE or something...where is it??cost???and can it cause that idling?
Try to clean the ports out and valve, i heard a brake cleaner or carb cleaner works. It is located below your pcv line going to your intake. It is actuated by the valve right there, it is opened by vacuum assist. They are suppose to be shut at idle, so if the valve is stuck open it will either cause your motor to die, or run rough.
do i just rub it or how do i use the carb cleaner there??? so is it like a vacuum leak..sorry im not really a motor person....more help is needed for me in a situation like this..thanks.
wouldnt hurt to clean you IACV, but he said he was getting a EGR code, which is specific to the EGR system. If your idle / rpm jumps from 1-3k trying to balance it self at 900ish rpm then it might be a vacuum leak, but if your getting an EGR code then I would start there. Search the forum for EGR and you will probably find a write up on how to clean it. If it is really bad you might need to take the intake manifold off to clean the ports.
i used the search options but it didnt give me much help..is it one of the sensors below the intake area or is it like a vacuum??
