Default Syncros problems.

I have the ever so common 3rd gear grind in my ZC LSD tranny. Does anyone have a write up or "how to" regarding fixing the problem. I have a spare tranny form a z6 with the same problem and I plan on using it for practice before attemting the procedure on the ZC tranny. Thanks

Rick

Download the honda manual for a CRX of honda-hookups.com and buy new syncros, bearings and spacers from honda, then go give her.

At the same time I recommend a HF 5th gear set for your install. Might aswell make so highway MPG happen if your in there and it's all apart.

You could always try these.

ive seen some people on here in the past polish the burs off the syncros and collars.

Diffrent fluids make a radical diffrence. so if your not using Honda MTF try something else.

Honda MTF does make a huge difference. I made the mistake of running synthetic 30 weight after the swap in my YS1 (that I rebuilt last summer) and it started grinding terribly during regular driving. I decided to change out the transmission fluid for the Honda MTF and the grinds are gone.

I never thought it would make that much difference, but it does.

So far I've tried Honda MTF, GM syncromesh and Royal purple Syncromesh. No luck thus far.

hmm, donno if its my syncros. BUT, i do have a hard time getting it into gears sometimes... no grinds at all, just have to shove it into gear with some persuasion sometimes.... BUT, if i put it in reverse, (before going into first....) then it goes in nice and smooth... maybe i might try the honda mtf....

do not use synthetic oil in your transmission. Use Honda MTF, GM synchromesh, or 10w30 oil non-synthetic.
