finding T.D.C on distributor
i put a new distributor on the car but forgot to see where the rotor was sitting before i switched them...... i take it that 1 full turn to the input shaft is 90 degrees for the rotor......
also, can the shaft go onto the cam at 180 degrees, or is it only 360....
thanks

The cam slot is off center. Look at the end of the distributor that goes into the head and make it lines up with the slot in the cam. It can go in 180 out, but you'll have to force it.
cool. because i had no spark.... replaced the distributor but now still dosent fire over..... battery is brandnew, fuel pressure is fine...and have no gasket leaks. i got air, fuel, and spark....the only other thing i can think of is the ecu..... im not a dumb wanabe mechanic.....i wrench on diesels allday long. so please dont think of be as another dumb kid..... but the best need a 2nd opinon somethimes...

make sure the plug wire order to the distributor is correct. I think the rotor can go on 2 ways, try flipping it since u didnt check the old one. maybe the refurbished distributor u got is junk? sometimes the battery dies after cranking on it for too long, make sure its charged. make sure kill switch or anything isn't on. im running out of ideas, good luck.
