About to buy a civic need help
Im going to get a 07 civic lx soon. Im thinking about the atomic blue metallic. Its going to be 5 speed Auto with all the stuff but 16 in wheels w/ hubcaps.
Well the first thing i want to ask is When should i have my first oil change? and second and third?
- i read when your engine is new it has the most wear and tear. And that you should drive hard and fast for the piston rings to seal properly for a healthy engine. Which could possible result in more power since no compression would be lost threw the rings! (if that makes any sense)
Fist Oil change should be around 80
second should be after 280
and i think last at 3000
and i heard its important to do so because the stuff that wears down all the metal and stuff if not flushed out fast can harm your engine and can go in the transmission?
Let me know what you guys thing about this. I just want my new car to be working great and the way it should be.
Also anyy feedback and reviews about your civic /problems/pros would be great. ! thanks

don't change the oil until the car tells you to. There is "break-in" oil that comes in the car from the factory. Do a search, it's been covered here.
ahh so im concluding the oil in it is special for the break in period. Now will the dealer let me change it before 3 thousand lets say 2?
You don't need to.. don't even worry about it. As Tre_ said before (in a diff thread) the break in oil Honda supplies is quite expensive. The car will tell you when to change it. If you're already looking at getting maximum power, starting off with an Auto LX isn't the best start.
Honda says to let the oil gauge down to 15% before you change it. Why not just follow Honda's guidelines? They aren't gonna give you bad information that will ruin your car.

yah guess your right. Oh and how do you change the maintainance after you get the oil changed. i heard you have to reset it everytime. and is the computer really that good to tell you when to change oil. i dont no if i can trust it

Just press the selecet/reset button until the oil reader come ups and just hold the same buttom until it resets to 100%. Yes you do have to do it everytime yes the ecu is that good in reading the oil but it also helps if u go into the engine bay and check the dipstick.
