Default Where is the tach wire on a 95 accord LX 4cyl

All,

If I look at the distributor, I see a connector with 3 wires in it. One is black/yellow, one is green and one is yellow. Is one of them my tach wire? If not, where would it be besides behind the instrument cluster? I'd rather not take that out. I don't see a blue wire anywhere.

Thanks in advance.

I forget which pin it is, but theres a tach lead coming from a pin out on the ECU. Lemme try and find it.

It would help to know what the real problem is you are having;
There is a Tach test connector [2pin] at the fire wall by the passenger side strut tower.
You can take off the dist cap and find the Blue Tach wire at the ignitor.
Often times the wire is faded and looks green.
That wire then goes to the under dash fuse panel pin #8 where it splits up and goes to the Tach in the cluster, and also feeds to the cruise control and Trans Control Module

Sorry, I have a 1995 Honda Accord LX 4cyl 5spd. I'm trying to connect a remote start and need to connect a wire to the tach wire. I'll look again around the distributor.

Thanks

Bumping this up because I am also installing a remote start and would like to find the tach signal wire inside the car, under the drivers dash ideally. Where is the easiest place to tap into this wire and what color is it?

I'm not sure if I have this correct, but if I were to find it as hondadude pointed out; then I would have to remove the fuse box and find pin #8 on the backside?

Thanks for any tips on where to tap into this wire.

You can pull it from the gauge cluster, it's a purple wire with white identifier IIRC. If you look at any of the legit alarm wiring diagrams they will list it there. I used them for when I wired my Accord with a Python w/ remote start.

I appreciate the info. Hopefully pulling the cluster to tap that wire will be easier than making a hole through the firewall.

Havent had any luck on pythons site for wiring. Clifford either. Guess i will keep looking just to double check

Going to work on the car in an hour or two, so bumping this up if anyone has any good tips to add. Right now I'm going to search out how to pull the cluster.

Seems pretty involved to get the cluster out. Almost to the point that drilling a hole in the firewall seems much quicker. But any tips on where to find the wire from under the dash are greatly helpful. It would be nice if I can tap the wire in the bundle of wires coming through the firewall on the drivers side because it's right there.

It takes ~30 minutes to take out the cluster. There's a guide in the FAQ. You should also reference the Audio/Video/Security section of HT which has some wiring guides.

Also, Python, Clifford, Viper, and DEI are all DEI brands. If you don't find the wiring guide on one of the sites it probably isn't on the other. Any wiring guide will work.

I just completed the installation of remote start in Accord 97. I tapped to blue tach wire right by the firewall inside the cabin. There are 2 blue wires there: thick and skinny. You want the skinny one. I can take picture if there is enough interest.
