The baffle plate , what does it do and what's it for?

my friend changed his oil pan and we notice it didn't have one on his gsr block so i wanna know what its there for i know its gotta be there for a reason..

 

its called a "windage tray" actually

Could you tell of some of the Benefits of having Windage Trays? where they could be used?

after researching i got my anwers just posting to help other so dont flame by saying "you should've done that before you posted"

 

windage trays keep excess oil from encoutering the crank, despite what u might think oil splashing onto the crank will not be a benefit of more lubrication, the crank internally lubricates itself just fine, oil contacting the crank will apply resistance. kinda like its easier to run in air as opposed to running in water. same idea here.

now as too why your buddy's gsr doesnt have one, cant tell u why I personally do not know if they come with one from factory or not.

 

b18c1's come with a windage tray stock. if it doesnt have one now, i'd be worried about any work done on the engine in the past.

im 100% sure they do do come with them i read it on helms, i just didn't know what it was for

 

the baffle plate also keeps from starving the oil pump of oil during cornering. but thats only in multiple hard cornering roads and such.

you're thinking of baffles in the oil pan

 

baffle in the oil pan is what im talking about..

so is that what you've been talking about this whole time? if so b series oil pans do not have oil pan baffles.
