To4E compressor housing

To4B Housing (excuse the crappy cellphone pic)

As you can tell by the pictures, the To4E housing is overall larger than the B housing. If you cant tell by the pictures i posted, put a few of your own up and we'll figure it out

upload your pictures to http://www.photobucket.com but you'll have to setup an account first. From there its pretty easy....

Also the entire frame of the To4E housing is larger....i guess its just one of those things you have to see in person in order to understand completely....

My s-trim t3/t04b has compressor measurements of ~48mm and 70mm. It also appears to be an oddball with 16 fins (8 large), versus 14 (7 large) that you usually see on a t04b. T04e's usually have 6 (12 large) fins.

You cant really judge the compressor housing based on the wheel inside it. I have a B housing on my GT3255 and it has an 8 blade compressor wheel. My GT3255 is the one posted above...

There are several that are using multiple blade systems that are in T04B. GT3255 v2, GT3267 48 and 52 trims, GT3271, T04b S-Trim, V-trim, and H-3, all have muliple blades than the standard 6 bladed system of the 75mm exducers.

But the housing info isn't what the OP is looking. T04b compressors are usually refered to by their trim letter, but its ~54trim if you want it the other way.

As for blade count, I just tossed that in there since I believed it might further help identify it beyond size alone (as I think its also an s-trim wheel). Its usually obvious when you have a ball-bearing chra when you spin the shaft and it takes a while to stop. I don't know the exact history of all turbos, as its really distributors/designers like you that really know how to put that info to good use.

@OP - Anyways, this is an s-trim t3/t04b, 3" inlet (intake wasn't finished):

what your refering to is the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) and yes the blox im should have a place to bolt it onto it helped the car idle when warming up etc...

I remember someone hitting 300whp with an s-trim t3/t04b on an B18A1. I can't recall the specifics, but I think it was mainly the 450cc injectors limiting the setup. I would imagine 15-20psi could get you there, but then again a stg1 wheel is a bit restrictive. It would probably make a very nice street car. It was a tad big for strictly daily driving for me on a stock sohc, but I got it for a great price. With a .48ar/stg1 exhaust, I hit 11psi at 4000 rpm.

I don't know about the blox+FITV, most parts are made for obd1+ engines, and the majority of them have the FITV on the throttle body. I'm guessing thats a gen1/SiR manifold. A newer TB would bolt right on, and most of the extra crap they have hanging off the older TB's aren't needed.
