Is freeway driving okay on boosted cars??

Is freeway driving okay on boosted cars??
I'm thinking about boosting my ek.. I was wondering since I got the b16 tranny. Would i be in boost since my rpms are normally around 4600 @75mph or would it just be in regular throttle without boost?

I'm no pro at this... But you won't be in boost if your not under load. So if your just crusing along you won't be boosting. If i'm wrong please correct me.

yea like he said it should be ok. i mean freeways are pretty flat. well what do i know im from idaho we dont have freeways lol. when im on a freeway just crusin im still in vac. really even if i give it some gas it would only build a pound or two. so u should be kool my man

it is very safe!you might even get more miles to a tank of gas.with a good tune!

If you have lowered your compression ratio during your build your engine will "see" less stress under no or low load sitatuons than it did stock, you are okay.

exhaust gas spins a turbo, the faster a turbo spins the more air it pushs, the more air it pushes the more pressure it creates. if your barely hitting the gas on the highway what makes you think youll be in boost all the time?

you should never be in boost on the highway unless there is considerable load on the motor.
You could be at 8000 rpm and not be in boost.
Also my gas milage is noticably better on the highway

no load = no boost
there are cases where that's not true...if your engine moves enough air through the turbo and the wastegate is too small (i.e. improperly sized) you may boost on the interstate, but i would HIGHLY doubt it

What people don't always understand is that a few psi is really no problem for the motor. Its actually more of an issue if its very low rpm, which would be considered lugging it.

Yup and usually get higher EGT's then and bad things happen. I guess if your car is extremely well tuned it would not be as much a problem (still not advised), but I would say most people on this board have decent tunes, but not perfect.
