Default Please let me know what you guys/gal think of this LS/VTEC-T build...

Ok this is my first ever build, it's a build to remember.

Set-Up:

B18A1 Block
LS Crank
GSR main cap and Girdle
Probe Forged I Beam Rods (rated at 800HP) LS spec.
81.25 SRP 9.6:1 (dish top)
B16 head
Race Block Guard
Dual Springs (unknown brand)
Stock cams (may upgrade)
New GSR Oil Pump
New GSR water Pump
GSR Pan, Baffle, and Pickup
ARP fasteners
LS tranny (may throw in LSD)
RC 550 CC injectors
walbro fuel pump

Almost everything is machined by Baril Engine in Green Bay. I'm going to machined the cylinders at school myself because we have the LATEST SUNNEN Boring and Honing Machine at the school. Best machining system in the State.

The plan is that I want to be able to run at somewhat efficient before I can afford to get my Turbo that's why I went with slight higher compression ratio. Plan on maxing out at 15 PSI.

I'm hopping to get from 375HP - 450HP, as for torque, whatever it decides to pushout.

The way I see it, it's built kind of like a GSR but with the LS crank and Rod, not that I can't get GSR parts but I prefered the LS stroke because of the slight torque.

Let me know what you guys think......

yea like 780+ injectors would be good for you.

and lsd would definitly be a nice upgradeesp giving the whp you are looking for

also what kinda flywheel and clutch are you looking to run?

Honestly, Im not sure what I'm going to use as far as flywheel goes, I know I'm not going to use ACT pressure plate for sure because I have bad experience with them, perhaps ACT 6 puck clutch and a heavy duty exedy pressure plate. what would you guys recommend?

Will 1000cc injectors be too big?

they would be fine, but they're still overkill. If you're using a T3/T04E 57 trim .63 ar you're not going to make any more than 430whp at most and i think you'd have a hard time doing that on pump gas. Plan to make about 400whp and dont get crazy w/ the injector sizing. If you got 880s you'd be fine and still have a good idle.

make sure that you get it aligned honed since you are not using the main caps that came with the block.

you said your pistons are 9.6:1 comp ratio dont forget that your B16 head is gonna add to that comp ratio so watch your boosting i would around 7-12psi is great

Precision 780cc are rated at 135hp per injector, which nets 540hp combined. My setup is a 57trim .63 aimed at 400hp. You dont want 100% duty cycle though so I think 780cc injectors would be sufficient for your build as well.

Your weak part seems to be your oem rods. I would advise buying atleast some eagle rods for 305$.

I also would be cautious about running a block guard, its a huge debate but I don' think its needed. Others may say opposite. But if you havn't already bought it use the money towards some rods.

The rods are after market with stock stroke ratios. So what's bad about block guard? My guess is that because it does not sit perfectly squared with the block and that it would could move the stock sleeves once they're heat up because aluminum tend to expand more than steel. Please give me some input based on experience. thanks

They are actually for the B17 GSR. In a B17A1 it's at 9.1:1 so I figured it would be about somewhere close to 10:1 compression ratio. It's I good idea that I run the setup at 12 PSI indeed, but I figure with new rods and pistons why not push a little? You made a good point though, thanks.

stock delso B16

on the dyno, Based on the book How To Build Honda Horse Power it's actually better than the type r so that why I decides to leave it stock.

not too sure on that but I figured why pay for another part when you already have one.
