Default Is this what I need to build my GSR longblock with LS guts?

I am slowly looking to collect parts for my next build.

I want to build either a 9.0 or 9.3-1 turbo motor or a 12 : 1 all motor setup. Either way, I plan on using the same foundation. Here goes:

parts:

1. LS crank
2. GSR block with oil squirters and block girdle
- Can I use the main caps from the GSR block or do I need the LS main caps?
- What thrust washers do I use? I am guessing LS.
3. ACL bearings
4. Eagle rods with ARP2000 rod bolts (for LS crank)
5. CP pistons or Wisecos
6. A mild port and polish on the head if its all motor with cams and full valvetrain upgrade, or if its forced inducted then maybe just stainless valves and stiffer springs to rev a little higher. Maybe even turbo cams, depending on HP goal
7. ARP headstuds (GSR ones)
8. Cometic headgasket. Will know which one to get when the time comes.
9. GSR water pump.
10. GSR oil pump
11. All new seals on the motor.
12. New valve guide seals.
13. new tensioner and timing belt along wtih cap, rotor, etc.

Basically, this will be an LS/GSR build. Recommendations? I am going to keep the stock sleeves, but have them bored and honed. Crank will be micropolished and balanced before assembly.

Im not an expert so I may be wrong on a few things but Ill try to answer your questions

2.) use the main caps for the block - the GSR main caps
- I belive all B18 thrust washers are the same, if not go with GSR
3.) make sure to plastiguge all your rod and main bearings. When mixing a different block and crank I doubt the clearances are all going to be in spec allowing you to just drop in one size bearings. You may need to mix in some OEM bearings.

dont bore the stock sleeves too much as you dont want to weaken them. i would personally not bore them unless your machinist says you have to.

Cool. thanks for you imput.

What torque wrench do you guys recommend. I still have a fairly new Craftsmen one, but I have heard bad things about them being innacurate after a while. I would hate to have it go bad right when I'm rebuilding my motor.

I have a torque wrench from Craftsman and work just fine. Just make sure after use to put it back to zero on the dial so you don't compress the spring for a long time causing it to be off slightly. I believe the oil squirter will get hit with the crank if you dont modify them. You may bent them slightly to avoid being hit.

1. LS crankyes
2. GSR block with oil squirters and block girdle
- Can I use the main caps from the GSR block or do I need the LS main caps? GSR main caps and girdle
- What thrust washers do I use? I am guessing LS. GSR
3. ACL bearings ACL, Clevite, or OEM Honda will all work well, the oil clearance is the most important
4. Eagle rods with ARP2000 rod bolts (for LS crank) Yes
5. CP pistons or Wisecos Personally I like Wiseco
6. A mild port and polish on the head if its all motor with cams and full valvetrain upgrade, or if its forced inducted then maybe just stainless valves and stiffer springs to rev a little higher. Maybe even turbo cams, depending on HP goal
For FI - SS valves, good vavle job, new stem seals, mild work on the chambers, mild work on the exhaust ports, port match the intake ports to the intake manifold about 1" in, upgrade the vavle springs, and turbo specific cams if you wish
7. ARP headstuds (GSR ones) Yes, as long as you are using the GSR cyl head
8. Cometic headgasket. Will know which one to get when the time comes. OEM Honda GSR if you are sticking to 81mm bore OR Golden Eagle overbored Honda if you are using a larger bore size, Copper spray both sides of gasket
9. GSR water pump. yes
10. GSR oil pump yes
11. All new seals on the motor. yes
12. New valve guide seals. yes, should be done anytime you have cyl head work done - like you mentioned above
13. new tensioner and timing belt along wtih cap, rotor, etc. Yes
