I Have An Em1 With A JDM B16 Swap...It Started when i was driving home and i was somocking so i pulled over and pop the hood...the smoke was coming from the overflow tank connnecter so i plugged it bak up and kept it movin...no long after i was still overheating so i parked it at home and brought it tothe shop the next day and got my thermostat changed...the thermostat did cease and the new one is working...the radiator is working i havent seen the fan working but i heard they work on a delay...but im still overheating!!! What else could be the problem please help me out ive put alot of money in this car and i dont want 2 spend anymore unnecessary money Thanks and i hope u guyz can help

i'm taking it that there are no leaks or you would have found them and mentioned them in this post.

my guess is, after the thermo was put in the system was burbbed. you have to get the air out of the system first.

let you car cool down. once cooled, open the tradiator cap. start the car. then pour antifreeze/water until it over flows alittle. if the coolant goes in you need more, if not and it topped off then you are good, put the cap back on and your done.

 

start the car and make sure sure the fan turns on is what you should do first. rev the motor up while parked the fan should kick on after the temp reachs a halfway. if your car is overheating then the fan should be on automatically.

 

the fan isnt coming on at all...but the radiator is working fine i did burb the system but still itz overheating

 

do you know what the fan switch is? unplug the plug for the fan switch and jump the two pins in the plug. with the key on. if it turns on your fan is good. then just change the fan switch

 

did you BLEED the coolan system by loosening the 12mm nut.....

 

i cant find the 12mm screw i was told it was to the left of the valve cover next to the water pump but no luck i couldnt find it...Where is the fan switch located???

do that.....

then the bleeder valve will be next to the upper radiator hose.

 

i was told not all models have 12mm screws...is my em1 one of them????

 

follow the top radiator hose to the motor. you see where it connects. right on that connection will be a lil nut with a nipple. loosen that till all the bubbles come out....

your car has to be warm for the collant to actually flow throuhg the top tube. you should know if you have one or not by following those directions.
